An unrestored Maserati Mistral – the 1968 Chicago Auto Show car
This Maserati Mistral 4.0 with chassis AM109/A1*1506* was built and tested in December 1967 in the Maserati factory. It was neither sold to a dealer or directly to a client but was shortly after shipped to the USA to be delivered just in time for the 1968 Chicago Auto Show. This show opened its doors on February 24, 1968.
The car was fitted with Borrani Spoked wheels and a 5-speed ZF gearbox and was originally finished in “Argento Auteuil”, Silver paint and Black Connoly leather interior. A very pure color combination.
Not much is known about the early history of the car but it somehow ended up in Florida during the mid-1970s where it was bought by Karl Paulson, who owned a restoration shop in Bryan Texas. Mr. Paulson never got around to restoring the car but he held on to it for over 30 years until his passing in 2017.
